Technology Options

You must select one of the following choices as a follow-up to this exercise.

  • Write a children's book about a disease of the respiratory system.  It should be well illustrated with computer graphics/and/or original artwork.  Assume that the reader is about 8 - 10 years old.
  • Using a word processing program, select one of the following:

    Write an obituary for an organism that causes a respiratory disease
    Write a Dear Abby asking for advise about a disease or something related to the respiratory system.
    Create an advertisement for an artificial lung, diaphragm, or bronchial tube
    Write a dialogue (biologue) about the respiratory system.
    Write a feature article for a newspaper/magazine about the dangers of smoking and its effects on the respiratory system.

    Write a "How-To" Book about Keeping Your Respiratory System Healthy or How-To Make a Model of the Respiratory System*

    Design a pamphlet to be distributed to patients suffering from a respiratory ailment. (Publisher could also be used for this) Click here for a template.

     

  • Using Inspiration software, design an interactive concept map with a minimum of 12 concepts/terms related to the respiratory system
  • Write a Blog with a minimum of 10 entries written by a patient suffering from a respiratory ailment or by the doctor treating the patient.  
  • Design a PowerPoint presentation about the respiratory system and its malfunctions.
  • Design a Webpage about the respiratory system and/or its malfunctions.  Be sure to include hyperlinks for more information.
  • Design a Webquest to instruct and answer questions about a specific disease associated with the respiratory system.

* These are the requirements for "How-To" Books:

  1. The book must have a title on the cover that starts with "How-To..." along with the student's name and copyright date.

  2. The book is to provide step-by-step directions that a person could follow to complete a task.

  3. The book must be attractive and neat in appearance and free of grammatical errors.

  4. The book should be no less than five pages long (one side).

  5. The books must contain an introduction of at least five sentences, in the form of an explanation of why the activity (explained in the book) is useful.

  6. The book must contain a mixture of written explanations and at least three pictures or graphics.
