Writing Biologues
Biologues
are a series of talks between friends engaged in the scientific process. These dialogues have a long and honorable
tradition in education. Plato used them
to communicate complex philosophy and Galileo used them as the format of two of
his most important scientific works.
This may be performed in front
of the class or students may read them in pairs. In both cases, use all your dramatic skills and follow the stage
directions.
Throughout the year you will
be given the opportunity to write your own biologues. Follow the rules below and use your creative talents:
·Include
two characters of your choice. (ex: Ping and Pong, salt and pepper, Minny and Mickey, Homer and Marge, sugar and
spice, etc.)
·make
the dialogues short.
·be
sure to include the scientific information.
·avoid
having one character speak significantly longer than the other.
·include
stage directions.
With a partner, perform the
enclosed play Ameba and Paramecium
Under the Microscope?” Make
sure that you get your props ready before you begin. After your reading, list
five facts you learned about the properties of water.
Have fun!
