SUPA Forensics
1.00 Unit Wt. 1.10 PD/WK
Fee required for credit
This is a college
level course offered through Syracuse University Project Advance,
SUPA. SUPA Forensics is focused upon the
application of scientific methods and techniques to crime and law.
Recent advances in scientific methods and principles have had an
enormous impact upon law enforcement and the entire criminal justice
system. This college level course is intended to provide an
introduction to understanding the science behind crime detection.
Scientific methods specifically relevant to crime detection and analysis
will be presented with emphasis placed upon the techniques used in
evaluating physical evidence. Laboratory exercises will include
techniques commonly employed in forensic investigations at crime scenes
as well as in forensic labs. Students who successfully complete a SUPA
program with a grade of C or better through the concurrent enrollment
program and who then submit an official University transcript to the
college of their choice, can have their SU courses recognized for some
combination of degree credit, placement or exemption.
